Background/History

I first began leatherworking when I was in Coach Richardson’s shop classes at Ark City (KS.) Junior High in ~1980 (yes, I am that old - IYKYK). I continued with leather off and on over the next 20+ years but it became a more regular hobby when I started doing hospice nursing. That hobby became more therapy and medicine than anything else - now 17 years later, I am still doing hospice care through the VA, providing our Veterans with dignity and respect at the end of his/her life - that is the very least we can do for those that put themselves in the line of fire to allow all of us the freedoms that we take for granted far too often.

I have been asked “where did the name M Star come from?” The M was the easy part considering our last name (Miller), but I had a hard time coming up with the rest since M Leather was a bit bland. I was sitting at my stamping station working on a passport cover …As I was working on the Stars of the Stars & Stripes, I liked one of the Star stamps I have. I grabbed a piece of scrap leather and merged the M and the - that easy - only time will tell if the brand becomes as recognizable as the Swoosh or the Golden Arches - lol.

As you begin looking at our inventory, I will tell you more about each purse in our line - please contact me with any questions.
